Came here for lunch during the week and it seemed the line followed us in. While we were lucky and walked in with no line, quickly a line formed behind us and the place got crowded. Food still came out fast, it was delicious and of course was satisfying. Place looked fine and was clean Would come back again
I love Mediterranean cuisine. Cute little restaurant off the main boulevard El Camino Real. Cobani has some high rankings. I've been able to try them twice now and their food is generously portioned and cooked well. I have a few Mediterranean restaurant favs in Redwood City, which I'm still very fond of, but Cobani is a close runner up. I ordered the Mixed Grill again and it's very filling with plenty for leftovers. The meats are juicy seasoned with spices. The chicken kebab is very juicy and full of Mediterranean flavors. The beef kebab and Kofke were tough. I love their rice! Side salad has a mustard vinegar dressing, which is nice to cool the light spices from the meats and chili oil on the hummus. And you also get a big fluffy pita to dip into the silky hummus. They have a menu of all traditional Mediterranean favorites, give them a try!
Thanks to yelpers and their honest reviews...I was looking for take away for the hubs at home. We discovered Cobani Gyrl & Kebab! A cute shop in an older part of San Mateo. Staff was friendly and took my order. I ordered mixed grill plate, dulma, and baklava - a little over 45 bucks w/ tip. Brought it home and husband enjoyed. Stated the dolma freshly made and grilled plate nicely seasoned and well cooked, not tough. We may check them out another time and dine in if we're ever back in the neighborhood. efcharistó!
This place is awesome! I got two combo plates and garlic fries to go and it taste so good. I especially love the hummus and the rice, and the gyros and chicken was well marinated. However, the waiting time was a little long even on a Thursday night. But would definitely come again! 10/10 - food!!!
Came here hungry after a strenuous hiking for dinner. It was delicious!! And we ended up eating too much here and being super stuffed... hahaha! I think they don't mind using high quality and fresh ingredients in their dishes. Plentiful herbs and olive oil. Big plus. Baba ghanoush was a Tahiti with eggplants and smoky paprika drizzled with plenty of olive oil and spices. It was very rich and appetizing. They gave us one more bowl of pita bread as we finished them so quickly. So nice of them. This was probably our favorite. Beyti was kinda of an adventurous choice for us since it looked very unique. Turned out it was worth trying. With yogurt based sauce and seasoned buttery rice, bread wrapped minced lamb was full of flavors. Grilled jalapeños was super spicy, so be careful. Greek salad was also nice, fresh, and crunch. A lot more flavors compared to regular Greek salad you'd expect from other places. Feta cheese and olive pickles add a great flavor. Generous portion and olive oil sauce. Lastly, we tried kunefe our of curiosity as it was a dessert with cheese. The taste was great. Mozzarella-ish cheese in the middle, crispy pistachio/coconut phyllo, and buttery syrup on top on a hot plate. I would still personally prefer Baklava because I like it crispy and not too heavy (cheese fat) as a dessert. But it was more of a cultural experience. I found this place was listed on the Michelin guide (not star). I'm glad we filled our hungry belly in this place today.
The food here is pretty superb! We came here on a Saturday night after a nice hike not too far away and we came out super full but very satisfied. The baba ghanoush was a great starter with pita bread. Creamy, savory, and also a little smokey. Afterwards, we were served the beyti which we chose not knowing much about it but definitely paid off. The minced lamb had great flavor and the sauce was buttery and creamy. For our veggies, the Greek salad was crispy with a nice tang. Lastly we finished with the kunefe which was crispy with slight cheesiness and not overly sweet. The restaurant itself is not very big but I was surprised that it was not very packed. Staff was friendly! Would come here again!
We usually order from this place for pickup. This was another time when we ordered Adana and Kofte. The kababs was pretty delicious (i.e 吃好). Loved it. We also ordered Beyti as an appetizer for the first time. It was small pieces of kabab wrapped in bread. Very very delicious However, the food was not really packed for transit. As soon as I tapped on break, it was all mixed up, hence the 4 stars. I will order again and again. These guys are good
Food: Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! We ordered the appetizer sampler and chicken wrap. Everything was perfectly seasoned. The hummus variations were delicious. I tried the eggplant one and the regular hummus. I liked the smooth and creamy texture of both. The roti was also cooked to perfection. Service: Wait staff could be more attentive but we're overall kind and got the work done. Ambiance: the cultural paintings are beautiful. This place is super cute.
